Guided Forest Bathing+ Sessions

A gentle space to pause, unwind, and feel restored in nature.

Forest Bathing+ is a gentle, sensory‑based practice inspired by the Japanese tradition of Shinrin‑yoku. It invites you to leave the noise of daily life behind and immerse yourself in the calming atmosphere of the forest.

On a 2.5hr guided session in a forest or ancient woodland near Ashford, Kent, you’ll connect with nature through all five senses, supporting your nervous system and creating space for clarity, stillness and restoration.

This evidence‑based approach - developed by The Forest Bathing Institute and rooted in research from leading universities and health organisations - has been shown to reduce stress, improve mood, and support overall wellbeing.

Each session is designed to help you feel grounded, present, and rebalanced. No experience needed. Come as you are.

What is Forest Bathing+?

Forest Bathing is rooted in the Japanese culture of Skinrin-yoku - shinrin meaning "forest" and yoku meaning "bath". A methodical practice of walking and taking in the forest atmosphere. Slowing down, and connecting deeply with nature through the senses. A therapeutic way to de-stress and improve health and well-being.

  • Participants are encouraged to slow down, leave behind digital devices, and connect with nature through all five senses - just being and noticing without over thinking.

  • Originally Introduced by the Japanese government in the 1980s, it is now part of their national health programme.

  • The Forest Bathing+ session structure provides a unique sequence designed to relax the nervous system.

  • Designed to de-stress, boost immune system functionality, and improve overall well-being.

  • Studies show that trees release compounds called phytoncides which, when inhaled, have protective antimicrobial effects and help lower blood pressure and stress levels.

  • Forest Bathing+ - The Forest Bathing Institute, who I trained with, created a system of forest bathing designed to deliver the maximum therapeutic effect. Developed with input from leading universities, the NHS, mental health charities, significant landowners and government departments.

  • Forest Bathing+ is heavily based on Japan’s forest bathing tradition, yet also involves different elements from other fields of science (such as research into forest ecology) as well as holistic practices taken from yogic techniques, meditation and mindfulness, earthing, and others.

  • All Forest Bathing+ Guides are trained in leading and teaching mindfulness and meditation, enabling them to create the optimum experience for participants to gain the most benefit from the session.

Hello, I'm Tanya

I am currently training as a Forest Bathing+ Guide with The Forest Bathing Institute. Blending mindfulness, sensory immersion, and ecological awareness, I work to reconnect people with nature through immersive, mindful experiences that restore balance, deepen awareness, and nurture well-being.

When I'm not in a forest or ancient woodland, I work in technology transformation for the NSPCC and am studying for a degree in Counselling to broaden my nature therapy offering. For over 35 years, I have nurtured and deepened my mindfulness, meditation, and yoga practice, allowing these principles to shape my personal growth and work.

I champion a world where everyone spends regular time in nature as a way to rebalance body and mind, and connect with nature. To nurture community connection and resilience, and protect our forests and ancient woodlands.
